This vessel is made of Longhorn Red Clay with sand added to it. The vessel was made on a throwing wheel. A white slip was banded 4 times throughout this vessel. The body of this vessel is painted with locally sourced cochineal.

This ceramic piece was hand built with Longhorn Red Clay. Includes white slip and mesquite bean stain. It was fired in an open fire. This piece includes a ring like stand placed on bottom for showcasing and leather accents for decorative accents.
Harvested locally from West Texas. This (1bottle) 17.5 ml. mesquite bean stain for pottery will render a black color when added to red earthenware clay. If you add this organic stain to a white earthenware clay it will not render dark black. But, if you add it to a white clay slip that is over a red clay you will get a dark color.
From the mountains of Uvalde, Tx home grown and processed in Concan, Tx. This powder (cochineal) is ready to use. Just add gum Arabic or alum.
